You are holding in your hands the ultimate collection of rehearsals, outtakes and alternates from the sessions for THE BEACH BOYS greatest album - PET SOUNDS. For your maximum enjoyment, this set has been mastered from the best available sources and includes a 32 page booklet of informative text, and groovy photos.

Liner Notes:

Introduction

          Thirty years have passed since sessions commenced for what many consider to be the greatest rock album of all time - The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. Now, for the first time, Spank Records has gathered together all the available outtakes / alternates / session tapes / & backing tracks from these landmark sessions into one package. We have located improved quality tapes for much of the material that has circulated previously and, even better, we have discovered never before heard additional rarities.
          The songs have been organized so that disc one contains an almost complete alternate version* of the album followed by another alternate version of the album. On disc one we have eliminated most count-ins and studio talk where it was present in order to create a disc that you will enjoy listening to over and over. Where count-ins and studio talk have been eliminated (8 songs), the track has been repeated in its uncut state on disc two or three. Also for disc one we have increased the pitch of "Caroline, No" to match the speed of the released version. It appears at the correct pitch on disc three. Discs two and three compile, in the same running order as the original LP, everything that is not included in its entirety on disc one.
          We hope you enjoy this package as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you. Be looking for an updated and improved version of our out-of-print Smile set coming in the near future.
